They're pretty much gone. Unless you find a pair in e-pay. And you will pay. If you want to fake it, you can. There's a guy in Michigan on e-pay that sells the 515 cone straight sided cone for 60 bucks. (but i just checked nothing there.) Or go to the speaker exchange and look for the 604-c aftermarket recone kit. Everything is there, except the dust cover. You'll have to make your own. And see if you can exchange the orange spider for the black one . This will give you a higher fs and qts for better mids. These kits should work with any ALTEC frame you do or do not have. The voice coil height is .29, and the ALTEC voice coil gap is .47 which should give you a 2.3 x-max. Which should get you to 160 or 80 hz easily. Check and see what the d.c. resistance is on the coils. Should be 11.5 or better. My original 515 is at 8.9 but it fills the gap. Use a sub to fill in that bottom octave or two. Hope this helps.
What would be the second best alternative?
You fellas don't keep up.
Call GPA, get your wallet out, and hold them to the grind stone.
They also have 15 inch Bi-flex cones, you'll pay dearly for those too.
